Strand One - Independence and Interdependence
The children will learn about the local area and the diversity within it when they go to visit local shops and markets. They will take part in group and class activities such as setting up shops and pretending to be shoppers and shop-keepers.
Strand Two - Communicating
As the children become involved in real and imaginary shopping they will learn about the practical use of at least one language. They will listen to stories and make their own books. They will learn that they need to know about numbers to be able to "shop".
Strand Three - Exploring
As the children sort and classify the chopping they will be looking for patterns and thinking logically.
Strand Four - Healthy Living
During our visits out of the school grounds the children will learn about keeping themselves safe. They will have the opportunity to make choices about what to buy.
