Sheffield-born Anthony Browne is an author and illustrator who was appointed Children's Laureate between 2009 and 2011. He has published 50 high-quality titles, with his breakthrough being 'Gorilla' in 1983, which won him the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration. For the 50th anniversary of the Medal in 2005, a panel named this book one of the top ten winning works, showing it will be a global classic long into the future.

More recently, he was Illustrator in Residence at The Tate, from which he produced 'The Shape Game.' His work is shown widely in exhibitions from London to Paris, the Middle East and Mexico. Browne dedicate a lot of energy to making school visits and conference calls for over 40 years to inspire a love of reading in children and educators alike!
