Seeing a friend perform a solo Classical Indian Dance show changed the way Ali thought about dance. Not only was she in awe of her physical endurance, she was also mesmerised by the stories the dances told. They were ancient tales, but the dances really brought to life the characters’ feelings and motivations, and it made the stories feel very relevant to today. It was as if the characters had travelled through time to meet us!

Since then, as well as feeling that dance can be entertaining to watch and a fun and healthy activity, Ali has felt there is something very important and mysterious about dancing.
