John Burningham is a well-known children's author and illustrator who has received numerous awards for his distinct style. Before his death in 2019, he was married to Helen Oxenbury, another popular children's literary figure. Burningham and Oxenbury collaborated on numerous occasions to create the globally loved picture book 'There's Going to Be a Baby.'
One of his best-known titles is his debut, 'Borka: The Adventures of a Goose With No Feathers,' for which he was awarded the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration. The list of notable Burningham books is endless, but among his best are 'Mr Grumpy's Outing,' 'Edwardo The Horriblest Boy in the Whole Wide World,' 'Avocado Baby,' 'The Magic Bed' and 'Oi Get off our train.' The lattertouches on themes of environmentalism and endangered animals.
