Malorie Blackman is an award-winning British author from Clapham, London who has uses science fiction to explore social and ethical issues.

Blackman's first book, 'Not So Stupid!' was published in 1990. Since then, she has written more than 60 children's books, including novels and short story collections, television scripts and a stage play. For her important contribution to literature, she has been awarded an OBE and held the position of Children's Laureate from 2013 to 2015.

Her critically and popularly acclaimed 'Noughts and Crosses' series explores racism in the setting of a fictional dystopia. 'Whizziwig,' 'Thief!,' and 'Cloud Busting' are some of Blackman's other books for younger children.
