An informative and analytical training course with Maddy Barnes about what we can learn from the English SATs and the 2024 moderation cycle for writing.

Delegates will have the opportunity to analyse and discuss the 2024 KS2 English SATs. They will also identify implications for the teaching of reading; writing and GPS for all year groups in 2024/2025. A range of teaching approaches will be shared throughout the day including teaching grammar in a context; modelling comprehension strategies; establishing the balance between comprehension & decoding and identifying termly agerelated writing standards.

Overview

During this course delegates will have the opportunity to examine the content domains for reading and identify the main skills required to meet the expected standard. A range of question types will be shared and progression within these skills will be examined. There will be an opportunity for delegates to use high quality texts and to write different questions related to the new curriculum. Time will be built in to ensure that these reading skills are applied across the curriculum in other subjects.
